

Wanda Maxine Richards, 94, of Memphis, and formerly of St. Clair Shores, MI, died on June 24, 2011. She was preceded in death by her parents, Felix and Alice Strzelecki; her sister and brother-in-law, Emily and Albert Young; her brother and sister-in-law, Roman (Ray)and Lucille Strzelecki; her husband, Jack Richards; and her daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and John Fern. She is survived by her five nieces and their spouses, Doreen (Dick) Lutey of Collierville, TN, Kaye (Jim) Wilkins of McMinnville, TN, Valerie (Bernie) Miller of Livonia, MI; Donna (Ron) Letenyei of The Villages, FL, and Paula (John) Wirka of St. Paul, MN. She was a communicant of St. Peter’s Catholic Church where many of her beautiful needlework creations are on display. Besides her needlework, she was noted for her cross-stitchery, crewel, afghans, and personalized Xmas stockings. Several of her handiworks won blue and pink ribbons at the Mid-South Fair. Before being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, she was active in Our Ladies of Charity, Optimist International and Independence Square HOA. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Peter’s on July 7, 2011, at 2 p.m., after which her ashes will be placed in the columbarium. A short fellowship gathering will be held at the church Fellowship Hall following the service. The family requests that any memorials be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, St. Peter’s, or the charity of your choice.
