It is with great sadness that the family of William (Bill) Arthur Gill announces his passing after complications due to a routine medical procedure, on February 6, 2019, at the age of 72. Bill was born January 19, 1947 in Memphis, TN. He was a graduate of Messick High School and went on to have a successful career in sales. He was a friend to everyone and had a great sense of humor. He was always available and eager to help anyone in need. Bill spent the majority of his life in the Memphis area and after his retirement he moved to Millbrook, Alabama to be closer to his daughter and her family. Even after his move to Alabama he continued to travel to Tennessee to attend his favorite “Oldies Concerts” with some of his former workmates and friends. While he was only in Alabama for a brief time, he made a positive impact on many people’s lives and became an active member of the Prattville Dragoons SCV Camp 1524. Bill is survived by his daughter, Laura Johnson (Ken); four grandchildren: Connor, Nicholas, Ashley, and Gill; a sister, Dixie Hickey (Robert); numerous nieces and nephews; and his four legged friend, Buddy. Bill was preceded in death by his wife and best friend, Linda Parks Gill who passed away February 21, 2009. Bill’s family would like to thank Brookwood Baptist Medical in Birmingham, AL for going above and beyond trying to reverse damage and heal him. Their professionalism and compassion will forever be appreciated by us all. Visitation will be Thursday, February 14, 2019 at Collierville Funeral Home from 1pm – 2pm with a service to follow. Burial will be immediately after at Magnolia Cemetery in Collierville, TN. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial gifts may be made to Prattville Dragoons SCV Camp 1524, 412 Gardner Road, Prattville, AL 36067.
