Alegria was the beloved wife of the late Luis Eduardo Salcedo and the devoted mother of the late Luis Eduardo Salcedo II. She was the cherished daughter of the late Carmen and Avelino Arteaga, and the loving sister of Avelino Arteaga, Carmen "Guga" Arteaga, Camilo Arteaga, and Norma DiPietro, all of whom predeceased her.
Throughout her life, Alegria was known for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family and friends. She began her journey in Guayaquil, Ecuador, surrounded by her many loved ones—her parents and siblings. It was also in Guayaquil where she met her husband, Luis Eduardo Salcedo, and together they had their son, Eduardo. After the passing of her husband, Eduardo and Alegria moved to the United States. She lived in Philadelphia, where she cherished time spent with her sister, Norma, and near her son’s family. Alegria spent the majority of her life in Miami Beach, surrounded by a vibrant community of dear friends and family, before moving to New Jersey in her later years to be closer to her son.
She is survived by many loving nieces and nephews, her daughter-in-law Karen Salcedo, and her beloved grandchildren: Courtney Salcedo and her partner Carlos Rendon, and Luis "Eddie" Salcedo III and his partner Jessica Williams. Alegria also leaves behind her precious great-grandchildren, Amelia and Nathaniel Salcedo.
Alegria’s legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew her. Her warm spirit, infectious smile, and deep love for her family and friends will never be forgotten. She will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Having lived a long, vibrant life, we trust that Alegria will be warmly embraced by her son, nephew, parents, siblings, and dear friends as she transitions to her afterlife.
