Born on June 19, 1937, he was raised in Camden, NJ along with his six sisters.
August served in the U.S. Army Artillery and played in the 63rd Army Band. He continued to play in The Crest, The Rustics, The Bel Airs and Hegeman string bands. He had a great love for music, drums, toy cars and, especially, trains.
What made him special wasn’t just what he did, but who he truly was. He was the kind of man that would give you the shirt off his back, drop everything to help someone and was always ready to share a laugh or story.
He is survived by his son, August J. Fischer, III; his grandchildren, August J. Fischer, IV, Ashley, Alex, Anna, Katie and Cate; and two great-grandchildren.
