
Bette was born on Jan. 24,1926 on the family farm in Millbury, MA to Hagop and Antaram Harootunian.
Bette grew up the youngest of 4 children, 2 step siblings Peter and Veronica, and her sister Tarvis.
The farm and her parents were first and foremost throughout Bette’s life. Being of Armenian heritage her parents would invite Armenian soldiers stationed in the area for weekend meals. This is when a soldier from Camden NJ, named Zaven Hovsepian met Bette. They became penpals at first then a number of years later, story has it, that Bette proposed to Zaven in the corn field with her father a few rows away. They married in Nov. 1953. She had many joys in her life raising 4 daughters, continuing working on the farm, then later working with her husband in the vending business. She was a member of 2 women’s bowling leagues and her talents in the kitchen cooking and baking were second to none.
She is survived by her 4 daughters Djonee Dilkes (Jeff) of Wichita, KS, Verene Torres of Collingswood,NJ, Serene DiCaprio ( David ) of Cherry Hill, NJ and Nane Arpajian ( Ralph ) of New Hope, PA. Also 6 grandchildren: David, Paree, Zaven,Sirelle, Stepan and Anahit; and 7 great grandchildren: Roman,Sebastian, Scottie, Leo, Sloane, Navy and Ames.
Bette was preceded in death by her husband Zaven ( 1999 ), parents Hagop and Antaram Harootunian and sister Tarvis Hintlian
A private family celebration of life will be held on Friday Oct 10th at Locustwood Memorial Park, Cherry Hill, NJ.
