Betty dedicated her life to her family. She was a devoted mother to Sharon, Thomas and his wife Margaret, Patrick, Daniel and and his wife Nancy, Gerald, and Debra. She was known as “Ma” to her nephew William, and Mom Mom to her six grandchildren: Kate, Lauren, Brian, Melanie, Michael and Madison. Betty was also proud “GG” to seven great-grandchildren.
Kind-hearted and generous with an indomitable spirit, Betty was a beloved friend to many. Her bright, warm personality and easy laugh were infectious. Her door was always open for a friendly cup of tea or a not-so-friendly game of cards.
Betty was born in 1933 in Camden, New Jersey to parents Margaret and Patrick Maloney. Her siblings were Patrick, Jack, Walter, and Margaret.
A self-described tomboy, Betty was an energetic young girl who loved playing baseball and later bowling. A Catholic education fostered her lifelong faith and sense of discipline. She married former spouse Thomas at age 17 and had six children.
Betty tirelessly supported her children as a factory worker making aluminum cans. Betty was hard working and deplored being late, and served as Secretary of her union.
After retirement, Betty became the first resident of Cole's Landing Senior Apartments. During her two decades in the community, she organized social dinners, served as Treasurer of the Bingo Club, sang in the church choir, and spearheaded the first newsletter.
