Ho-Jane Shue

In October 2025, she was diagnosed with stage 4 liver cancer. Shortly afterwards, she came to NJ and lived with her son’s family since November 2025 as they served, honored, and loved her throughout her final days. Though beset by the difficulties of terminal illness, she retained the calm and reserved spirit that characterized her life.

On her final day of lucidity, she informed a caregiver in Mandarin that she was ready to go and that at the end, she was a Christian. Now, by God’s grace she is at rest in His presence alongside her husband, Shi-Shuen Shue and she can finally find the answers to her oft-meandering spiritual musings.

Ho-Jane Shue was a kind, witty, loving mother and friend, an amazing listener, an avid learner, and someone whose life’s goal was to help others in need. Born in China and raised in Taiwan, she grew up a keen student, attending Taiwan National University then making her way to America as a graduate student, first at Rice University, then at Montana University and SUNY Stonybrook where she obtained her Masters degrees.

Her career as an organic chemist spanned more than thirty years during which she worked on anti-allergy drug discovery, attained her doctorate from Rutgers University, and forged deep bonds of friendship with her coworkers.

She married Shi-Shuen Shue, raised one son (David) along with a tuxedo cat (Mimi) and for a few years, a nephew (Andrew) as well. Retired life saw her transition to Las Vegas where she grew a circle of close-knit camaraderie with friends old and new for over 20 years.

She loved nature and traveling, meeting up with friends and lending a listening ear. Her voice was soft, demeanor gentle, and outlook steady, offering words of wisdom that spoke of peace and understanding. She will be greatly missed by both family, extended family, and friends.

She is survived by her son, David Shue and her sister Ho-Fang Yu.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, August 21, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Blake Doyle Funeral Home, 226 W. Collings Avenue, New Jersey 08108.
