James was born on March 22, 1944 in Camden, NJ to James and Frances (Woodford) Skanes. He was a 1962 graduate of Camden Catholic High School.
Jim worked at AT&T as a communication technician for over 30 years. He loved to spend most of his time hanging out with his kids and grandkids. Jim loved going on golf outings, fishing with his brother, kids and grandkids; going on huge family canoeing trips to Batsto, playing horseshoes and throwing darts with his friends at the Moose Lodge “The Rev”; watching his favorite sports such as football and baseball. He was a diehard Philadelphia fan. Jim was known for grilling in the backyard year round and being a professional pizza maker for everyone’s entertainment. He also enjoyed the daily crossword puzzle (having a little help from his granddaughters). Most of all he was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Jim filled his life with lots of love and laughter, always around family, friends and of course his four legged companion, Shylo. Daddy, you will be truly missed by all. We love you.
Predeceased by his parents, he is survived by his wife, Patricia Skanes (nee Conte); his six children, Jim Skanes (Nancy), Pamella Kennerup (Walt), Heather Denn, Brian Skanes (Christine), Adrienne Agabiti (Al), and Colleen Skanes; 17 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; his siblings, Bill Skanes (Joan), Dolores Doyle (Jim), Sharon Sheppard (late Richard), Eileen Wallace (late Jim), Bernadette Saggese (Anthony) and Denise Piccoli (Tony) as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
