John H. McGuire (“Jack”), age 71, passed away on September 4, 2026. Born on October 28, 1954, Jack will be remembered with deep respect and enduring affection by all who had the privilege of knowing him and the pleasure of laughing with him.
Jack attended st. Joseph's high school and went on to build a life defined by steady dedication and hard work. He spent 42 years working at the post office, a long and faithful career that reflected his reliability, perseverance, earned through a lifetime of showing up and doing what needed to be done.
He lived in Collingswood, NJ, where he devoted himself to the people and routines that mattered most. Jack found his greatest joy in time spent with family—especially his grandkids—and in the simple pleasures that made life rich: cooking, fishing, trips to the racetrack, listening to music with those he loved and cheering on any Philadelphia sports team. He also treasured vacations down at the shore with his family, and most of all, being with the love of his life, Michele.
Jack gave generously of his time to others. For many years, he coached his son's baseball and football teams in Collingswood and Oaklyn, NJ, offering guidance with patience and care—someone whose presence brought steadiness, encouragement, and a sense of what truly matters.
Jack is survived by his wife, Michele McGuire, to whom he was a loving and devoted husband for 49 years. He is also survived by his children, Carolyn (Jeff) Labenski and John (Christine) A. McGuire, and his grandchildren, Gavin, Molly, Bryn and Jackie.
Jack is also survived by his sister, Maryellen McGuire; mother-in-law, Mary Ferguson; and sisters-in-law’s, Patricia (Anthony) Saia, Joanne (Steve) Pennington, Mary (Joe) Portalatin, Denise (John) Perotti, Janice (Mark) Tennant and Lynne (Logan) Greer and many loving family members and friends.
Jack was predeceased by his parents, John C. McGuire and Roseanna McGuire, and his sister and brother, Margaret Hans and Michael P. McGuire.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation at Blake-Doyle Funeral Home on Monday, September 14th from 6 to 8 PM and again at St. John’s Catholic Church in Collingswood on September 15th from 10 to 11 AM, followed by a mass at 11 AM.
