

Leo was born in Camden, NJ to Leo Joseph O’Toole Sr (aka Michael Leo O’Toole) and Mary O’Toole (nee Veatore) on October 4th, 1926. He attended Haddonfield High School. He served as a signalman in the US Navy from 1944-1947, stationed on the U.S.S Tularosa, the U.S.S. Albany, and the U.S.S. Missouri (BB 63) in the south Pacific during WWII. Following discharge, he went on to earn his B.S. degree in business from Temple University, with a minor in electronics. He then went on to work as a systems engineer at IBM from 1956 until he retired in 1990. In his youth he also worked at Stetson Hat Company and Lord & Taylor. He enjoyed boating, rollerblading, making model airplanes and ships, going to Atlantic City, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Leo is preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Mary: and his wife Margaret Lavinia O’Toole (nee Smith) and his brother-in-law James Burns.
Leo is survived by his sister Elizabeth Burns of Collingswood; daughter Patricia O’Toole of McHenry, IL; grandsons Joseph William Beatty, Jr, Peter James Beatty, and Christopher Thomas Beatty; granddaughter Veronica Leigh (Rudy) Hidding; great-grandchildren Juniper Lilly Anna Beatty, Jack William Beatty, Margot Helene Hidding, and Penelope Anne Hidding; nephew James (Katie) Burns, Jr., nieces Debbie Moran, Diane (Kevin) Stern, and Donna (Jerry) Carnicella.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Hospice and Palliative Care of Northeastern Illinois for their support in his final days.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation, Thursday, 9-10:30am , at Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Parish, Holy Saviour Church, 50 Emerald Ave, Westmont. Funeral Mass 10:30am. Interment Calvary Cemetery, Cherry Hill. Arrangements by Blake-Doyle Funeral Home, Collingswood.
