Neil James Larsen Sr. was born in Rockaway Beach, NY on January 27, 1944 to James Joseph Larsen and Gertrude Berger. He is preceded in death by James Joseph and Gertrude S. Larsen and his wife of 50 years, Karen A. Larsen.
Neil James Larsen Sr. was educated in the Berlin school district until he entered the United States Marine Corps on September 12, 1961, at which time he received his high school diploma. Neil James Larsen Sr. worked as a Police Officer for the Borough of Laurel Springs for 20 years where he rose to the rank of Chief of Police and is credited with giving countless officers their start in Law Enforcement.
If anyone was ever looking for Neil James Larsen Sr., he could always be found serving others. This was his favorite past time. Neil James Larsen Sr. also enjoyed fishing, crabbing, camping, going to the range, cooking, and spending time with family. It is even told that Neil James Larsen Sr. touched people’s lives in such an infectious, compassionate way. He was always forgiving and never turned anyone away. He was loved by so many for his positive outlook on life.
He spent his entire life as a public servant starting as a Marine, Police Chief, and Emergency Technician. All of his closest coworkers said Neil was such a delight to work with. His most notable saying when folks asked how he was doing was, “The very best!”. He always had such a caring and generous way when he worked with difficult patients, strangers, and other coworkers. He was a true “people person”.
During the fall of 1965, Lance Corporal Neil James Larsen Sr. had met Seaman Karen A. Rossman. This joining resulted in four children; 3 boys and one girl - Neil, Michelle, Jimmy, and Erik who will miss Neil James Larsen Sr. very much.
Neil James Larsen Sr. is survived by Neil J. Larsen Jr, Michelle A. Larsen-Ramdeholl, James C. Larsen, Erik J. Larsen, Bruce Martin Larsen, Karen G. Larsen-Weppler, his beautiful fiancée Mary Jane Munera, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
