The friends of Ray here in Costa Rica are deeply saddened to know of his passing on. Ray came to Alejuela Airport to pick up Alejandra and I after are return from Cuba and then took us to his new favorite restaurant near his home. One of the most interesting men in the world I will miss seeing.

So sorry to hear about Ray. He was a good neighbor and river keeper. RIP

I was very sorry to hear of Ray's passing today through extraordinary circumstances.  I considered Ray a friend and it was a privilege to host Piper in my home on a couple of occasions while he traveled.  I remember Ray as always gracious to me and a mutual friend.  Once, Ray came to the rescue when my Godson was rushed to the hospital in ambulance and we were stranded there around 10 p.m. when he was discharged.  Ray lived nearby and gave us a lift home in a moment's notice.  Thank you, Ray, for all your good will and may God have mercy on you, too!  Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him.  May he and all the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace.  Amen.

Ray was one of kind.  We differed over politics yet remained friends. His loss has affected me deeply.  Rest In Peace Ray

On Marne Hwy tonight we just passed by Ray's home and my wife said she cried for Ray. That surprised me cause they were just acquaintances really ... and we said hello Ray as we passed by. Then She said, I thought you didn't like him.  No, I said, I was just mad at him once.  As time passed we were both on to something new and he would give me a call. The past was behind us. Ray was looking forward with that twinkle in his eye. Our latest caper was about a neighbor who dumped demolition waste into the Rancocas. It was good to be on the same team again. Of course we had our usual tactical disagreements. He dug in about "eagle habitat" as a key to the case. I said it didnt matter. But as I developed the written complaint to the NJDEP, he kept coming back to it. Eagle foraging habitat. Drove me batty. It doesn't matter Ray. They don't care about that. He didn't listen.
   But it SHOULD have mattered. And thats why Ray wouldn't let it go. Looking back now I realize that was an essential part of my friend Ray. He didn't care one wit how the bureaucracy worked ... he was going to stand up for what he believed in come Hell or high water.  
   I miss him.  so does my wife.

Ray had asked me to go on his boat on the Rancocas Creek and I wasn't able to go but said to please  ask me again. He had commented about seeing a harbor seal on the creek and how great it was that wild life was coming back to to the water way. I knew Ray from the various Democrat activities and elections. I will miss his input and conversation about politics. Rest in Peace Ray.

I am so sorry for your loss.i have known ray since I was 16 yrs old.ray was a very good neighbor to us and he was always there when we needed help with anything.the neighborhood will be forever changed without him. may your grief be tempered by the thought that he is now a higher being of good.my mother and I will miss him.
