Sandra L. Mathern

She was born in Camden, NJ on March 23, 1942 to the late Helen Gibbone (nee Jakobowski) and Angelo Gibbone and was their precious only child.

Sandra attended St Joseph High School in Camden, NJ. After high school, Sandra worked at an insurance company before becoming a full-time homemaker and stay-at-home mom.

Sandra loved being around her family. She especially enjoyed hosting holiday gatherings. She was best known for her Christmas Eve extravaganza. She adored her four grandsons and was always willing to babysit. As they grew older, she took tremendous pride in their successes. Sandra was very creative and was a talented artist, often creating drawings in both charcoal and pastels, as well as paintings.

Sandra was married for 62 years to her beloved husband, the late Richard Mathern. They were married on September 22, 1962 and lived in Camden, NJ for 14 years before moving to Pennsauken in 1976. During their years together they had two children: Michael Mathern (Karen) of Fort Myers, FL, and Gary Mathern (Bobbi) of Moorestown, NJ. They also had four grandchildren: Dr. Ryan (Jenna) Mathern of Pawley’s Island, SC, Mitchell (Amy) Mathern of Moorestown, NJ, Chad Mathern of Moorestown NJ, and Dylan Mathern of Magnolia, NJ. They had one great-grandson, Archibald Mathern of Pawley’s Island, SC.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2025 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life Service at Blake-Doyle Funeral Home, 226 W Collings Avenue, Collingswood, NJ.

Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, 2398 West Marlton Pike, Cherry Hill, NJ. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared below.
