It is with profound sadness that we announce that after a short but fierce battle with cancer, Sean O’Brien died on August 21, 2025. At the time of his passing, he was surrounded by family and close friends.
Loving son to the late Cliff and Joanne O’Brien (Ryan) and devoted brother of the late Kevin O’Brien, he is survived by his siblings Gerry O’Brien, Michael O’Brien, and Beth O’Brien, nephews Gabriel and Daniel O’Brien, and aunts Joyce O’Brien and Nancy Ryan. Sean cherished his family, his lifelong friends, newer friends who became like family, and his beloved dog, Nelson, who he affectionately referred to as “my dude.”
He touched the lives of many with his sense of humor, infectious laugh, warmth, and generosity. This, along with his love of the Phillies and Notre Dame football, helped him make friends wherever he went. Nothing mattered more to Sean than his family, friends, and Nelson, which is why he never quit fighting this awful disease. Even when things looked their worst, he wanted to make sure everyone else was OK. To know him, was to love him, and to be loved by him was an honor.
Although he was taken far too soon, he will never be forgotten and will live forever in our hearts.
Visitation for family and friends will be held Tuesday, September 2, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life Service at Blake-Doyle Funeral Home, 226 West Collings Avenue, Collingswood, NJ 08108.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations go to Tap Cancer Out, https://tapcancerout.org/donate/
