October 18, 1917 – February 2, 2019
Sophie Zimmerman (nee Bella) passed away peacefully at home February 2, 2019 aged 101 years.
She is preceded in death by devoted husband Ellwood C. Zimmerman Sr. and beloved daughter Carol. She is survived by her loving children: Deborah Dugan (Kevin Larsen), Susan Trudeau (Andrew), Judith Kearney (Thomas), Ellwood Jr (Brenda) as well as 13 grandchildren; especially Heather, Nicole, and Lauren, to whom she was more than just a grandmother. In addition, she had 14 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Sophie was a long time Collingswood resident and was proudly employed by Cooper Hospital as a telephone operator for over 45 years. She was known to always be impeccably dressed and maintained. Sophie loved to shop at Boscov’s, watch Phillies games, visit the Chinese buffet for lunch, and in earlier years, work on her garden and travel the world. Her strong spirit and spunky personality were known to be one of a kind and will be dearly missed by all who loved her. Sincere appreciation goes to Sophie’s wonderful caregiver throughout the years, Liz Crawley, for her devoted care and attention.

The time has been flying by and Sophie had so many people in her life and great memories of each. She was blessed with a tender loving family that always made sure she was ok. The parties on forth of July, the weddings, tending to her great gardens and flowers, and always had a story. May the Zimmerman clan always cherish her memories because they were blessed to have them. She will be missed a lot and God bless each one of you.

As I sit here next to my almost 14 year old kitty that was born on her porch I am so grateful for her love of animals. That love clearly was passed down to her family!
We have missed her visits to the salon and her sense of humor that always made everyone laugh and smile.
She truly was one of the greats! God bless her spirit and long life. May she Rest In Peace ❤️

I’ll never forget Sophie when Lauren and i would spend so many summer days at her house. The smell of Elwood’s pipe on the porch and the memorable times I spent with your family I definitely cherish. She would always keep a close eye on us because we were usually up to something... My thoughts and prayers are with your family now and always. I’m sorry I can’t make the services but know I’m thinking of her and you all.
