Sylvia Sullenberger

Sylvia (Landis) Sullenberger, a gentle soul filled with love, peacefully passed away on January 19, 2024, in Collingswood, NJ. She was 80 years old.

Born on March 15, 1943, in Lancaster, PA, to John and Barbara (Browning) Landis, Sylvia was raised by her father and stepmother Grace Rohrer. Her life was guided by a deep and unwavering love for her family and her faith in God.

Sylvia's caring nature touched the lives of all who knew her. She embraced her roles as a daughter, sister, wife, and mother with love and commitment. Sylvia is survived by her daughter, Laura McCallum, and son, David Sullenberger. Sylvia's love extended to her children's spouses, Patrick McCallum, and Jennifer Sullenberger, who became cherished members of her family. Her legacy of love and warmth also extends to her grandchildren: John and Jacob McCallum, and Erin and Avery Sullenberger.

She is survived by her sisters Susan Mackenzie, Mary Ellen Funk, and Kathryn Landis, sister-in-law Ginny Landis along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, whom she adored. Sylvia was predeceased by her parents, brothers, David and John Landis, and brothers-in-law, Jim Mackenzie and Al Funk.

May Sylvia rest in peace, surrounded by the love that defined her life and the faith that sustained her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew her, acknowledging the caring spirit, familial bonds, and spiritual devotion that shaped her journey.

A memorial service is scheduled for 11 am on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at Blake-Doyle Funeral Home, 226 Collings Avenue, Collingswood, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Sylvia’s name to First Baptist Church of Collingswood 23 Frazer Avenue, Collingswood, NJ 08108.
