Yvonne and I were high school classmates. She exuded joy and her laughter and smile filled the room. May her memory be a blessing to your family and all her friends forever.

I just learned today that my friend passed. She was a kind person and was there when I really needed a friend. We started as coworkers in Boston years ago and she became a friend and more like family every year.

I met Yvonne in the Netherlands. We were in the same Dutch class. She was very funny and impressed me for her knowledge of everyday life and kindness. She tried to teach me how to cook but no avail. She helped me when I got my child and she was the first to visit me in the hospital. She was a great person and one of my best friends. We laughed a lot and always had something to say. I will miss her dearly. We kept contact and chat on Facebook and on the phone. We also met in Washington DC during my travel to the USA. It was awesome. My family and I will always remember that day. Wim wrote me today about the passing and my family and I are still in shock. Yvonne was also a good friend of my son. She was a very special person.   

I met Yvonne in a mid century modern gift exchange group, and over time she became an important part of my life. We chatted regularly, and I enjoyed discussing the many things we had in common, as well as our differences. I will miss her forever and always be grateful for the opportunity to know her and call her my friend. 

I was so sorry to hear of Yvonne’s passing. I will always think of the fun we had working together on youth theatre plays. Her smile and friendship will be missed. 

Mrs Shrieks was a dedicated parent and positive contributor to the Collingswood School system.

We remember Yvonne as a part of our family. She was a sympathetic and happy person. In 2008 we went with our family to the United States and we visited Yvonne and her family in Collingswood. Together we fished in the park with Wim, Willem en Maxx and our childeren Rob and Linda. We had a pleasant visit. Two years later in November 2010 Bert went to New York to run the marathon and Yvonne came with her family to see and support me. Many thanks and we will miss her.

We remember Yvonne as a part of our family. . In earlier days we had a family day at the time my parents were married 50 years. It was so lovely to see Yvonne with humor and laughter and a warm heart with a lot of interest for everyone. Also very sportive. She was so proud of her children Willem and Maxx. We wish Wim, Willem and Maya stenght to go on, with the memories of your mam in your heart.

I'm so sorry that Yvonne is gone. Those who knew her will know what a loss that is. My condolences to everyone.

Yvonne was a great friend of mine at Meyers HS. We spent a lot of time together at band practices and other music activities. She was the first drum major ever for the marching band and she was excellent. We reconnected on FB but I am so sorry that I didn’t get to hang out with her in real life. My condolences to her family.

Flipping the pages of my high school year book, I see the three of us together in almost every picture… Band, Chorus, Orchestra… Susan, Susie and Yvonne.  Yvonne was such a bright light in my life… warm, funny, sweet, considerate and always smiling.  My parents adored her, as did I.  While we lost touch after high school, we recently reconnected on social media.  Yvonne hadn’t changed much over the years, but with the added intensity of parenthood and a passion for social justice.  Such a wonderful and significant combination of traits!  I’m so glad she was a part of my formative years.  I regret not getting to know her better as an adult.  May Yvonne’s memory be for a blessing.

We remember het in her Dutch periode as a warm, social engaged personality.  Friendly warm and open. 

Our hearts go out to the Shreik and Johnson family.  We grieve along with you for the loss of your wife, mother, and our dear,dear friend and next door neighbor of many years. Yvonne always showed us such extreme kindness and love that we will cherish the rest of our lives. The day before she went to the hospital she was at our house for a few hours, laughing, playing with our cats and helping us with a computer problem we were having. This was Yvonne , fun and caring.  Our memories of Yvonne will not be of the last three weeks, but of laughing, smiling and of happy times with our dear friend Yvonne.
