

Colonel Albert "Al" Korpak, USAF, retired, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 17, 2014 surrounded by his family. He was 78 years young and the adoring husband of Jeanne (Stunyo) Korpak with whom he shared 54 years of marriage.
Born in 1935 in Jessup, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Joseph Korpak and Charles and Anna K. Korpak Pearson. He was predeceased by a sister, Agnes.
A native of Algonac, Michigan, Al earned his Bachelor's Degree in Education from the University of Detroit where he met and married the love of his life, Jeanne in 1959.
Al served 27 years in the Air Force in Morale, Welfare and Recreation. He took care of service members and their families through base activities, daycare and youth centers, golf courses and sports. Following his retirement, he served as General Manager of Sunnyside Country Club, Fresno, CA, before permanently making his home in Colorado Springs in 1998.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two children: son Lt Col Kenneth L. Korpak, USAF, ret, of Monument, CO, daughter Kimberly K. and her husband Craig H. Scott of Doylestown, PA Al and Jeanne also have two grandchildren: Kyle D. and Cara J. Scott.
Al was a loyal and loving husband, father, grandfather, friend and mentor. He will be genuinely missed by all and will never be forgotten. His family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the caring staff at Memorial Hospital and National Jewish Health.
A funeral service and celebration of Al's life will be held at the Air Force Academy Cadet Protestant Chapel on Thurs, 22 May 14 at 10:00 a.m. A reception will be held in the Eisenhower Room at the AFA Golf Course immediately following.
