Allan M. Carlson, beloved husband, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2019, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was born in Thief River Falls, Minnesota, March 9, 1948, the fifth of six children born to the late Raymond and Jeanette Carlson.
Allan spent his early years with his family and stepfather, Jack Silvola, in St. Francis, Minnesota, and graduated from St. Francis High School in 1966. After graduation he served in the US Army from February 1, 1967 to January 24, 1970. Deployed to Vietnam, he served two tours as a Huey helicopter gunner, where he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Air Medal, and a Bronze Star.
Following his discharge from the Army, he attended a draftsman trade school and worked several years as a draftsman in Minnesota. He relocated to Colorado Springs in 1972 and worked several positions in the construction field. While in Colorado, he met and married LuEtta Ferrero on May 19, 1978. He joined Christofferson Commercial Builders (CCB) in 1988 and retired in 2016 as a Superintendent.
Family and friends were extremely important in his life. He enjoyed family vacations to Mexico, fishing trips to South Dakota with his CCB colleagues, Elk and Deer hunting in Colorado, and yearly trips to Alaska to visit his nephew Marty for salmon and halibut fishing.
Allan is survived by his wife, Lu; two sisters, Rochelle Carlson and Barbara Lamson in Minnesota; several nieces and nephews; his two dogs, Bella and Ginger; as well as a host of wonderful friends.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Friday, February 22, 2019 at 1:00pm at Swan Law Funeral Directors, 501 North Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado.
A private burial will take place later in the year at Black Hills National Cemetery, Fort Meade, South Dakota.
