

Alma Faye (Shephard) Sprinkel Strunk was born April 2, 1918, in Abilene, Kansas, to Walter W. Shepherd and Nellie M. Lacey and departed April 21, 2011, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where she had resided since 2006. She was 93 years old.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Ralph and Kenneth, three sisters, Ruth, Marie and Irene, her husbands, Warren Sprinkel and Alvin Strunk, an infant son, Jon David, two daughters, Diane Sexton and Donna Roelfs as well as a stepson, Kenneth Strunk and a grandson Timothy Sexton.
Alma is survived by her daughter, Rosemary Lauxman (Eldon) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, son Harry Sprinkel (Adela) of Honolulu, Hawaii, stepdaughter, Sherryl Fitzpatrick (Bill) of Wichita, Kansas, and stepson, Ronald Strunk (Janice) of Loveland, Colorado, 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Alma lived most of her life in Dickinson County. She owned and operated Alma’s Café in Talmage until in 1952 and later worked in Abilene at the Sandwich Inn, the Skip Inn, Duckwall Store, Commercial State Bank and then at the Citizens Bank until her retirement in 1980. In 2003, after the death of husband, Alvin, Alma moved to Frontier Estates where she lived until she moved to Colorado Springs in June 2006 to be near family.
A celebration of Alma’s life will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 601 N. Cedar in Abilene, Kansas, on Saturday, May 7th, 2011 at 10:30 a.m..
