Sweetheart,  I miss you everyday.  I am so lonely here without you.

This will be the third Thanksgiving I've looked to the foot of the table at my right and missed you. Not only because the salad has been hit-and-miss, the conversation sometimes lagging since you left. I liked having you in my life, Amanda. I felt comfortable, felt fully myself, engaged and alive, in your presence. At the dinner table with you, I felt like I belonged. Of course at the time I was too full of the sensation (perhaps also too young, too spoiled) to consider that it could be any other way, but looking back, I know now that that feeling of happy belonging, that comfort I experienced every Thanksgiving, wasn't necessarily part of the natural order of things. It was the product of a kind and deliberate choice. From the very beginning, you welcomed me. You treated me like family. You didn't have to, but you made me feel at home. And for that, three years too late, let me say this: Thank you, Amanda.

It was about 18 years ago that I first met you.  We met on a trip to the UK.  I like to think that my memory is outstanding and I can recall virtually every moment of that trip, most involve you.  From the moment we arrived in England, there was a bond formed between a number of the younger travelers, and you and I saw eye-to-eye.
I could write pages but these few flashes of memory in the UK make me smile. You losing your passport in England; smoking Cuban cigars in Edinburgh like we were high society.
Every moment of the UK trip will always be burned into my head, but it was once we'd returned that I developed a great friendship with you.  Despite the claims of my unbelievable memory, I can't exactly recall where we were when we met again, months after the UK trip.  We were at a house on a dirt road, and I know this because as we left I was following you and you nearly lost control of your Suburban.  I was momentarily nervous for you but you regained control.I'm presently shocked at the minute details I'm recalling right now.  That evening you brought me to a party and I was introduced to your friends.  Within a week, you'd been introduced to my friends as well.  You were wild, we were wild, and our paths had officially crossed.
I can think of moments, whole days, even weeks which we shared each other's company.  It's so strange now, like flashes of memory perfectly preserved in time.
Once we'd reached our early 20's, it was few-and-far between, but every time we'd happen upon one another, it was just like yesterday.
The above paragraph is why this is difficult.  If I saw you today, it'd be like old times, reminiscing while also catching-up.  It's the absolute impossibility of this scenario that is so hard to come to terms with.
As we age we realize the old folks were probably right, and our younger days were probably the best years.  I'm glad that you and I got to experience our best years together.

Connie -  My deepest condolenses upon the loss of your precious child.  Amanda was a uniquely gifted human who walked to her own drummer.  She followed the wisdom of Ralph Waldo Emerson's writings - to be true to one's own soul.  I apologize for missing her Memorial Service, as I was called to California this week on a family matter.  My heart and soul are present with you and your family during this difficult time.

I had not the pleasure of meeting Amanda in person, but know of her through Kristy's passion for her little sister. In every word describing Amanda, one could tell she was the sort of kind, loving person who translated light for the rest of us. May your family find peace and warm memories to hold you through the grief of this loss.

You helped me make a decision that saved my life. Thank you Amanda, I love you.

I am truly sorry for your loss Connie as I can relate to having lost someone before their time.  She looks to be a beautiful young lady and no one should lose their child that early in life. May the love and prayers of family help you and yours through this sad time.

I was a friend and neighbor of Amandas. She will be missed by many. Loved her spirit. My condolences go out to Chris, Rei and Family.

I met Amanda through her sister Kristy,  she was a blast to hang out with and full of life .  She was awesome at darts and made me laugh and smile every time she was around . She will be miss and it was great that I got to know her .

Sending all our thoughts and prayers from Chapel Hills Orthodontics. All of our staff and Dr. Chris loved seeing Amanda's beautiful smiling face for every appointment. We always loved to hear what her next adventure was and how fearless and strong she was about doing life! She will be missed dearly.

Amanda was a part of my life indirectly through her sister Kristy, who spoke of her often with such love. Over the years, she has regaled me with tales of time spent together and adventures shared. I know Amanda as a beautiful, funny, fearless, generous and unpredictable young woman. My heart is heavy for your loss.

This is what I will remember most vividly about Amanda: her cooking, both its deliciousness and the obvious pride and pleasure she took in preparing meals for her family; the aura of calm that sometimes surrounded her and which, especially combined with her height, gave her almost a majestic presence; a strong memory for details and occasional feats of recollection which I would comment on, admiringly, in private; and her welcoming, dignified hugs. I will miss all those parts of her and all the rest of her too.

Today I woke up and my first thought was how the air felt like London and it grew thicker as I heard of your passing. The rain helped me feel like the universe felt your loss as deeply as I did. I had lost a comrade and a partner in crime, because for over a decade we were inseparable. It has been that long since we last spoke. I will never forget the beautiful friendship we shared.
 We met on the playground, you we're into horses and I was into dolphins. you convinced me they were the horses of the sea and we could be friends none the less. We shared schoolgirl crushes and makeup brushes. I was the photographer and you were my model. Your family looked after me and took me overseas. We both lived life back then like there was no tomorrow. You made me get my first tattoo. I still have a scar from that time my hoodie got caught in your car door and you took off without knowing I was still attached. We were reckless in our youthful abandonment of what others though our lives would look like. We shared stories and we're holders of each other secrets and insecurities. We both agreed toilet paper was the best revenge and we were a nightmare in Drama Class. We looked after each other and help each other survive, I still tell stories of our friendship for it and you will always be legendary. Thank you for the time we had together. Love to the family that was left behind.

I am the owner of Heebee Jeebees. I gave Amanda her first job when she was still in high school. I remember her as a bubbly, fun girl. Pretty and so sweet to everyone. I am heartbroken for her family. Rest in peace beautiful girl. You will be loved and missed very much.

I will always remember Amanda as one of the sweetest young ladies I had ever worked with. She worked with me at HeebeeJeeBees. She was simply beautiful and had a flair for fashion. She always was there for her friends and always knew how to make me smile. I haven't seen her in many,many years but I thought of her frequently. I will miss her dearly.
