

Amy attended CU Boulder an received a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Ethnic Studies. She went on to get her certification in Special Education from UCCS. Later she received a master’s degree in reading.
Amy taught Special Education for fifteen years, mainly in District 11 schools. She was an avid reader, enjoyed hiking and going for long walks. She could be found at a local brewery enjoying a beer now and then. Amy loved to travel and looked forward to going on cruises with her family. Her adventurous side was always wanted to explore the little towns wherever she was and learn about them. Amy spent quality time with good friends watching movies, going to concerts, plays or eating a good meal. She enjoyed animals, especially dogs and horses.
Amy is survived by her mother, Ann Payne, her sister, Sara Payne, her Aunt Nancy (Tony) Prichard and several second cousins. Amy joins her father John Thomas Payne. There is no service planned at this time, a memorial will be held in the spring of summer of 2021. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Amy’s name of an elementary book addressing empathy, special needs or being different to one of the following elementary libraries: Penrose, Monroe or Keller. You can also make a donation to the Pikes Peak Humane Society.
She will be deeply missed by all. Amy, you will always be in a special place in our hearts.
