Anthony M. Lovato, of Colorado Springs, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 22, 2013, at the age of 75 due to complications from pulmonary fibrosis. He was born on July 28, 1937 in Ortiz, Colorado to the late Rebecca and Salvador Lovato.
Tony was raised in Monte Vista, Colorado. He entered the Navy in 1955 and underwent training to become a dental laboratory technician. He was then stationed in Bethesda, Maryland where he met his wife Joan Thatcher. They were married in 1959, in Washington D.C. They moved back to Colorado in 1962 where they raised their four children.
Tony owned and operated Lovato Dental Laboratory for 43 years and was a well-known and highly respected lab technician in the dental community.
Tony enjoyed playing golf and reading, but his greatest pleasure was spending time with his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother George C Lovato.
He is survived by his beloved wife Joan of 53 years, brother Leroy (Marilyn) Lovato, sister Mary Ann (Jerry) Salazar, and brother-in-law Harry (Sally) Thatcher. He is also survived by his four children Dr. Michael (Lynn) Lovato, Rebecca (Scott) Shoemaker, Teresa (Rick) McKay, and Dr. Matthew (Jodi) Lovato. He is survived by his most precious gifts, his 13 grandchildren: Allison, Melissa and Maximillian Lovato, Christina (Rashaud) Kraft, Jacqueline Allery, Thomas and Toni Shoemaker, Breanna (Keith) Madsen, Tyler and Brandon McKay, Benjamin, Sarah, and Abigail Lovato. He is survived by two great grandsons, Jaxon Madsen and Andre Kraft.
The Rosary is to be held at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 28th, with a visitation following until 8:00 p.m. at Swan Law Funeral Home, 501 N. Cascade Ave., Colorado Springs, CO 80903.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 29th, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 2318 N. Cascade Ave., Colorado Springs, CO 80907, (reception following at the parish hall).
The burial will follow the reception at Evergreen Cemetery, 1005 Hancock Expressway, Colorado Springs, CO 80903.
