Marty is survived by his daughter Nicoline Moltzan, daughter-in-law Carol Christianson, three grandsons Michael (Cari), William and David (Jen) and beloved puppy Maggie. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Stella Smith, his parents before he was age of 8 and his foster mother Helen O’Shea Keleher, son George A Christiansen and son-in-law William J. Moltzan.
Mr. Martinez was retired from the U.S. Army after 32 years of service. He was a Medic during the Korean War, serving in Korea from 1950 -1953. He had several tours to Germany and many U.S. stations, including Ft. Carson, where he retired from. He received the Army Commendation and Meritorious Service Awards. He went to school after retiring and became a LPN and worked in intensive care at Evans Army Community Hospital for 22years before retiring from civil service.
Marty loved music and was a wonderful tenor. He sang for a time in the Army Chorus while duty. He sang in the Colorado Springs Opera for many years which he greatly enjoyed.
Marty was an active member of the Korean War Veterans. He also was a member of the Retired Enlisted Association, VFW, Elks, Eagles and EPCRW and Republican Party.
Visitation will be from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m., Friday, June 29th at the Advantage Chapel of Memories, 829 S. Hancock Avenue with a Rosary to follow at 6:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 30th, St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1830 Corona Street with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
