Ardyne A Thorgesen
September 18, 1923 – January 28, 2020
Ardyne Audrey Thorgesen passed away on January 28, 2020. She was born on September 19, 1923 to Charles and Dorthea Mirs in Wheaton, IL. At a young age Ardyne wanted to be a journalist, during WWII her aspiration was to be a foreign correspondent like Ernie Pyle. Unfortunately her family would not allow her to pursue that dream but she never gave up her love of writing and even wrote a book about the history of our family, titled “Baby Makes Three” which we treasure still today. She met the love of her life Sam Thorgesen while dancing at the Blue Moon in November, 1945 the same day Sam had been discharged from the army. They married on June 21, 1947. In 1963 Sam and Ardyne moved with their 3 kids to Colorado Springs. Ardyne worked as a bookkeeper for Roofers Mart, Louden Office Equipment and Office Interiors until she retired in 1986. She was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church where she served on church council, was a member of circle, sowers, altar guild and was the bookkeeper for the pre-school. Ardyne was a great story teller and loved to share stories about her life. Even in the final weeks as her body was failing, her mind remained sharp and she was able to still share a story or two just days before her death. Ardyne was preceded in death by her husband Sam, granddaughter Kendra Stroh, her parents and siblings Ralph Mirs, Bernice Baker and Francis Mirs. She is survived by her children Robert (Donna) Thorgesen of Greeley, CO, Gary (Joyce) Thorgesen of Bay Head, NJ and Tammy (Kent) Lobato of Colorado Spring, CO. She was blessed with 10 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. She has been a testament of love, hope, strength and faith to her family and all her knew her and will be missed by many. When she finished her book so many years ago she ended it with these words to her family, “This is my final chapter. The rest of the story is up to each one of you to finish. Live your lives well with pride and dignity.” Services will be held at a later date at Memorial Gardens in Colorado Springs.

Condolences to all of the Thorgesen family. The Booth’s have many fond memories of gatherings while we all lived in Illinois. It was a different time back then and we miss all who have passed. They are having a big celebration in Heaven! (Lots of beer) 🥀
