

Arnold (Arnie) Bruland, beloved father, father-in-law, brother and uncle left this vale of tears for heaven’s eternal joys on April 2, 2015 at home in Pueblo, Colorado. He was born in Mt. Sterling, Wisconsin, February 4, 1924 the first of five children born to the late Rasmus and Marie Bruland.
After High School, Arnold joined the Army Air Corps to serve the country, help his family and fulfill a dream - -flying. After WWII, Arnold studied at University of Wisconsin, earning an economics degree in 1949. He then joined the Air Force and flew in the Korean and Viet Nam Wars retiring in 1968 with a Distinguished Flying Cross and five Air Medals among others. In his second career, Budget Analyst for the Army Department, he worked at Pueblo Army Depot, at DOD Schools Europe in Germany and retired in 1988 while at Fort Carson.
Taking care of family was paramount to Arnold. Staying fit was almost as important. He exercised regularly and was an avid golfer and skier.
Arnold leaves behind two children James Bruland of Colorado Springs; Kimberly Bruland of Pueblo; son-in-law Richard L. Gallegos, beloved furry friend and companion Baxter; siblings Ruth Stephens, Audrey Nelson, and Marline Peterson; sister-in-law Beverly Schaab; brother-in-law Donald Schroeder; and a host of wonderful nieces, nephews and friends. Arnold was preceded in death by Lorna, his wife of almost 36 years and his sister Borgny Ford.
Visitation begins at Salem Lutheran Church, 4318 N. Chestnut Street, Colorado Springs on Saturday, April 18, 2015 from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. followed by a memorial service. A reception will be held at Swan-Law Funeral Directors, 501 N. Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs.
