Mr. Wylie was born in Carthage, Arkansas in 1917 to Baron L. and Wilma Wylie. He attended Magnolia A & M College, Colorado State University, and earned his doctorate from the College of Forestry, SUNY, Syracuse in 1950. Dr. Wylie taught at Syracuse and Michigan State University. He also served in the United States Army Air Corps in World War II, maintained a home in Mt. Sterling, KY for many years, worked for the United States Department of Agriculture throughout the 1970’s and as an advisor at Yezin Forestry Institute in Myanmar from 1980 to 1983.
Aubrey was a forester by profession and a sculptor by avocation. His home is graced by hundreds of his small hand-carved art pieces. He loved walking in the forests, music, and his family. His quiet irony and appreciation of life will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Frances N. Wylie, his daughter, Nethery, her spouse, Michael Lynch, his grandson Evan Lynch, all of Colorado Springs, and his sister Helon Powell of Lewisville, Arkansas.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, May 20, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at the Skyline Room at the Village at Skyline.
Arrangements under the direction of Swan-Law Funeral Directors, Colorado Springs, CO.
