

Barbara Jean Bogard (69) passed away on February 10, 2017 to be with the Lord she loved. She was born to James H. and Marie M. Peterson on April 15, 1947 in Denver, Colorado. A 1965 graduate of Pueblo South High School, Barbara attended Colorado State College (now UNC) graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree with majors in Mathematics and Elementary Education. She married James K. Bogard on October 11, 1968.
Barbara was an exemplary homemaker and devoted mother. She enjoyed making things with her hands. Over the years she made clothes, quilts, ceramics, reed baskets, crocheted blankets, knitted hats and sweaters and many other crafty things. Sometimes working outside the home, she taught school, worked as a receptionist and did computer data entry.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents James and Marie and her sister Janelle Peterson. She is survived by James, her husband of 48 and a half years, her children Mike (Karla) Bogard of Colorado Springs, and Melissa (Billy) Powers of Newville, PA; two granddaughters, 6 nieces, 2 great nieces, 3 great nephews, numerous cousins and friends.
She desired that she be cremated and her remains be scattered. A private family celebration of Barbara’s life will be held later in the year. Donations in Barbara’s name may be sent to Springs Rescue Mission, 5 W. Las Vegas St, Colorado Springs, CO 80903.
