

Barbara J. Borgen, beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away peacefully March 17, 2013 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was born in Concordia, Kansas, August 4, 1934, to the late Homer and Dorothy Chartier.
Barbara graduated from Beloit High School in Beloit, Kansas in 1952. She married William in 1954, and they relocated to Colorado Springs in 1957. After raising three children, she managed Conrad’s Mademoiselle clothing store for almost ten years. Hearing the call of service, she served on the Harrison District 2 School Board for four years. She then began her 25-year career with Social Security Administration, where she was a Hearing Monitor, providing invaluable assistance and support to the judges in the appeals process and worked until her passing. Her many hobbies and passions included painting, gardening, reading, and spending time with her family.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory William, her devoted husband of 58 years, loving children Jan (Will) Mailloux, of Scottsdale, Arizona; Jayson (Lisa) Borgen of Colorado Springs; Jeffrey (Kim) Borgen, of Orlando, Florida; and grand-children Brianna and Ryan Borgen.
Visitation will take place at McDonald Robert Funeral Home, 910 N. Campbell, Beloit, Kansas on Friday, March 22, 2013 between 1 and 3 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her honor to the Arthritis Foundation at Arthritisfoundation.org.
