Barbara Rae Procyzyn

Barbara Rae Procyzyn passed away in Colorado Springs, CO, on July 18, 2025 at the age of 85. Barbara enjoyed gardening, traveling, camping, dancing and formal events. She will be greatly missed for her creative talents and elegant style. Barbara was born on September 28, 1939 in Elkhart, KS, to Raymond and Marie Grasz. She grew up in the small town of Elkhart, KS and filled the hearts of many with her infectious enthusiasm, laughter and sense of adventure. She graduated from Elkhart High School in 1957 and married Charles Leland Carter, Sr. on May 23, 1957. They had three children together: Charlotte, Kimberly and Charles Jr. (Chuck). They made their first home in Elkhart, KS and then later in Lakin, KS. In 1969, Barbara and her family moved to Colorado Springs and soon became involved in their new community, church and schools. Barbara lived a fulfilling life as a wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend. She loved to travel with her family throughout the country. Later in life, Barbara married John Procyzyn on May 1, 1981, in Colorado Springs, CO.

Barbara is survived by her children; Charlotte (Derek) Isaacs, Kimberly Long, and Charles Carter, Jr., seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, Brenda Grasz; brother-in-law, Willis Carter; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her parents, Raymond and Marie Grasz; husbands Charles Carter and John Procyzyn; grandson, Michael Paxton; son-in-law, Rick Long; sisters, Shirley Crosley and Peggy Pierce; brother, Donald Grasz; and niece Galynne Crosley.

A visitation will be held on Monday, Aug 4, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Swan Law Funeral Home, 501 North Cascade Ave, Colorado Springs, CO 80903, where friends and family are invited to share stories and memories of Barbara. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in Swan Law’s chapel. At 2:00 p.m., there will be a committal service at the Memorial Gardens Chapel at 3825 Airport Rd, Colorado Springs, CO 80910.
