Barbara Lee Sanderson died in the early hours of 1 June after a battle with cancer. She was the second child of Daniel B and Ruby F. Sanderson, born on November 16, 1953 at Mt Carmel Hospital in Columbus, OH. Her older brother Ralph Daniel Sanderson (Dan) had come out from Columbus, Ohio to be with Barb during her final days. Barb spent her formative years in Columbus where she became skilled as a pianist and in sign language. She was called upon to perform at her church and to sign sermons regularly. At a very young age she began a lifelong love of dogs that continued to her final days.
After high school Barb attended Cincinnati Bible College where she earned a degree in English Bible. After graduation she briefly worked at a church in Hamilton, OH before she loaded up her belongings to move to Lakewood, CO in 1977 where again she worked for a church before starting with Electronic Data Systems (EDS). She had a great career in EDS supporting bank migrations, traveling all over the world doing software installs and conversions. Her final position was with Jaxon Engineering & Maintenance as an accounting technician. Barb liked to travel and especially loved doing taxes during tax season which she did while having a long career with H&R. She took great pleasure in helping the military get through the challenges they face in getting their taxes done due to being away from home or out of the country.
Barb leaves behind her brother Dan and an amazing network of friends and care givers who soon became close friends. These wonderful people stepped in to help Barb cope with the challenges she faced while she battled cancer. They also took great care of her three dogs that she loved dearly. Barb can’t thank Lucky Dog Kennels enough for reaching out and taking care of her three dogs during the time she couldn’t. The love she was shown by so many was truly amazing and illustrated the love and friendship Barb gave.
A memorial service/celebration of life will happen on 6 June 2013 at Senor Manuel’s, 6:30 pm, her favorite restaurant (4660 N. Nevada). All friends are welcome to come and celebrate Barb’s life and friendship. You will be able to order off the menu.
