I'm so sad to hear that Barry is no longer with us, at least here on earth. He will always live in my heart. Barry took an interest in me for reasons I'll never fully understand, but will always be thankful for. As I look back on  my 40+ year career in the wine business I owe a great deal of my success to Barry. He was my first real mentor in the wine business. He kept my name in front of all the right people within the Gallo Sales organization and as a result my career took off. He taught me so much about the business and was one of the first people i would hear from whenever I received a promotion. Over time we became friends and did things together, took a trip to Tahoe together and had a fantastic time. Over time and considerable distance we unfortunately drifted apart, not because i cared any less it's just one of those things that happen in life. Christie, Mark, I don't know if you'll ever see this or remember my wife Lisa or I, but we are so sorry for your loss. R.I.P. my old friend!

As I sit on layover in Chicago I thought I'd share another pic since you are on my mind.  A crappy anniversary but it is one at that.   9 years and it still seems much less.  I thought of adding another pic, it's from over 20 years ago but one of my dad and I after my college graduation in 2001, showing the loving proud dad you were, my college displayed your shirt.  
I miss you very much, dad.  If there's an afterlife or heaven or whatever anyone reading this believes,  since I'm still unsure, I truly hope your brother is with you.  He always said, "The wrong brother died."  Richard had so many health problems but with my help he made it to a year more than you, at 65.  Today is a tough day.  I wish we had had more time.   I love and miss you dad, with all my heart.

What, what, what, NO WAY....oh my goodness...I was in my Linked in today there was a post titled "The Mentor Who Shaped Me", you can write a little something about that person and share that with them, for me that was Barry, he hired me at Gallo Wine company and took me under his wing invested time in me, advised me, shared tips with me that I now share with others, I was going to make a post about Barry and share it with him, I checked for his name in Linked In and saw he retired in Colorado, I wanted to get in touch to let him know personally what a deep effect he had in my life, Career wise "Barry" is the ONE person who believed in me, he molded me into the person I am today and I am eternally grateful for that...I am at a loss for words, I only found this web site so I don't know what happened and why he is gone, I am in complete shock right now, through the years I thought of him often, He really really had a profound effect on me, he taught me to believe in myself when no one else did, even I did not believe in myself but through his adamant belief that if I could just believe in myself I could ANYTHING...and he was right, I remember him talking about family alot when we would have lunch while working in the field and I remember how much he talked about his kids and how proud he was of them. I truly am going to miss him, DON'T wait to tell people what an impact they have had on your life, when you think of them, find a way to share that with them, I am not sure if his family will ever see this but if you do, you had an amazing amazing father, and husband, he adored you all

Barry was such a sweet soul. He blessed others with his bubbly personality and great smile. I'm so thankful for the chance that I had to know him. He will be missed by many.

Dearest Stephanie,  my heart broke when I heard about Barry.  Know that you and yours are in our prayer, and we hope those prayers will fill your heart with our love and spirit.

We would like to extend our deepest and heartfelt condolences to Barry's wife Stephanie, his children Marc, Chrystie, Kayla and Livi, who he dearly loved, the Grandchildren who when he spoke of them you could hear his excitement. Barry, you departed this Life too early and you will be greatly missed by everyone's life you touched, your family, friends, and acquaintances. Stan and I had the pleasure to meet Barry over 18 years ago at a picnic and on that day, a long and greatest memorable friendship was born. Barry started his conversation with do you drink wine? and without the knowledge Barry had an executive position with a wine maker, I inserted my foot into my mouth by saying that cheap Gallo Wine. Surprisingly Barry did not walk away in disgust, rather he said, Ah! You have created a challenge for me and educating our taste buds with numerous weekend outings with friends to the Temecula Wineries began. Living in the Napa Valley area, we now enjoy some of the finest wines and have numerous tasty wineries to visit and with each trip, Barry's name comes up in our conversation. In our future trips to the beautiful wine country, we will include a special toast to a dear friend, until we meet again Barry. With many toasts to come, Love Stan and Cathianne
