Bertha "Bert" Diamond Rodriquez

Obituary of Bertha "Bert" Diamond Rodriquez
IN THE CARE OF

Mountain View Funeral & Cremation

Bertha “Bert” Diamond Rodriquez of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2024, at the age of 89.

Bert was born on December 12, 1934, in Newfoundland, Canada, to Bertha Hodge and John Daniel Diamond. She had six brothers: Valentine, Raymond, Ira, Sam, John, and Donald, and three sisters: Dulcie, Gladys, and Annie. Growing up in Newfoundland, Bert loved the ocean, nature, and animals. In her early career, she worked as a shorthand typist in various offices in Toronto, Canada. She also lived and worked in England and Scotland for some years.

After meeting in Newfoundland, Bert married William Rodriquez in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, in 1968. They subsequently lived in Niagara Falls, New York, and moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado, in 1971. Bert and William had one child in 1976, Richard Rodney. Bert loved being a mother to Rodney and wife to William. The family enjoyed camping, hiking, and fishing together. Bert also liked to cook and garden and never met a dog she didn’t like. She always had a biscuit ready for any furry friends she might encounter.

Bert was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1971, and her faith in the Bible was a central part of her life. For a large portion of her life, Bert focused on her full-time ministry work, sharing her faith with others. She looked forward to the Bible’s promise of a coming new world when death will be no more (Revelation 21:3,4).

Bert is preceded in death by her parents and her siblings.

Bert is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, William; her son, Richard Rodney; her daughter-in-law, Jennifer; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members, as well as close friends.

Bert will be greatly missed. Her family and friends considered her an extraordinary individual who was caring, kind, and gentle. True to her name, she was a diamond who shined brightly on all those who knew and loved her.
