

Betty Rae Elliott passed away at her home on July 5, 2024, as she was preparing to fulfill her volunteer position at the Assistance League Bargain Box. Betty Rae was born in Ottawa, KS to William and Martha White and was a resident of Independence, Missouri as well as a summer resident of Green Mountain Falls, Colorado for many years. She was married to Dean H. Elliott, who preceded her in death, at Independence Boulevard Christian Church in Kansas City, MO. She attended the University of Missouri and completed her Bachelor of Arts in Education at Ottawa University, enabling her to be a Montessori teacher for several years. She is survived by two children, son Dean H. Elliott II (Wendie) of Castle Rock, Colorado and Susan Martha Dodd, of Manitou Springs, Colorado. Betty Rae has five grandchildren; Dustin Dean Elliott (Danielle), Sean William Elliott (Nicole), Ian Michael Dodd, Patrick Dean O’Keefe, and Morrigan Ellie O’Keefe. She also has three great grandchildren, Dakota and Delila Elliott of Castle Rock and Briar Elliott of Knotts Island, NC. After Dean’s transfer to Littleton, CO, Betty Rae continued her long career teaching in Littleton, CO; Atlanta, GA; Paris, TX; and retiring from St. Mary’s Academy in Englewood, CO. She was active in many organizations in Kansas City, MO as a docent for the Kansas City Gallery of Art, the Kansas City Philharmonic, the American Royal Association, and many others. In Colorado, she was President of Chapter DL of the PEO, tour guide for Laurette Tours, active in the Assistance League, Red Hats, and a regular member of First Presbyterian Church in Colorado Springs, CO. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to either the Assistance League of Colorado Springs or PEO chapter DL/BW of Colorado Springs. A Celebration of Life will be held on August 18, 2024 from 1:00PM to 3:00PM at the Flying W Ranch Mountain Stream Lodge.
