Betty Ann Kingsford, 90, of Colorado Springs, Colorado passed away peacefully on October 11, 2019. She was born in Missoula, Montana on June 7, 1929 to Fred “Red” Delaney and Harriett Evans Delaney and was one of three children. She graduated from Hellgate High School in Missoula. She then attended the University of Montana and graduated with a degree in Business Administration. She was married to Tom Kingsford, the love of her life for 50 years; he preceded her in death in 2005. Tom and Betty Ann were blessed with two sons who, for better or worse, didn’t get away with much. Chores were done before any activities, including football games and practices. If they weren’t done, you didn’t go, no questions asked. Try explaining that to your coach/Dad! Most of Betty Ann’s fondest memories are when the family lived in Polson and Missoula, where they made many life-long friends. Her days alongside the Montana Grizzly Football team always held a special place in her heart. The Kingsfords left Missoula in 1968 for Cedar City, Utah. In 1969, she received a master’s degree in Education, Guidance and Counseling from the University of Montana. Betty Ann spent several years in administration at various levels at Southern Utah University. From 1972 to 1984, she was the Associate Dean of Students followed by the Associate Vice President for Student Services from 1984 to 1993 when she retired. While in Cedar City, Betty Ann enjoyed supporting the Thunderbirds Football team and attending the Shakespeare Festival held annually. Upon retiring, The Kingsfords moved to Peoria, Arizona where they spent their retirement years; however, their summers were spent in the place they loved the most, Flathead Lake, Montana. After Tom passed away, Betty Ann moved to Colorado Springs to be close to family. She was an early adopter of the 24/7 news cycle and enjoyed time with family and attending the events of grandchildren whenever possible. Betty Ann is survived by her sons Tom (Heather) Kingsford of Salt Lake City, Utah and Kyle (Bridget) Kingsford of Colorado Springs; sisters, Doris Davis of Hemmitt, CA and Janet (Larry) Slocum of Georgetown Lake, MT, four grandchildren Robert (Suzanne) Kingsford, Nate (Lisa) Kingsford of Salt Lake City, Brian Kingsford of Ft Collins, CO and Jake Kingsford of Colorado Springs; four great-grandchildren, Mae, Grace, Grant and Duke Kingsford of Salt Lake City. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Swan-Law Funeral home October 26, 2019 at 10:30 am. An interment will be held July, 2020 in Missoula, Montana.
