Birthe Hoover peacefully departed this world on January 22, 2024, surrounded by her beloved family. With a loving heart and a life brimming with experiences, Birthe leaves behind a legacy cherished by all who knew her.
Born on December 10, 1935, in Guayaquil, Ecuador, to Carl Johan and Erna Jensen, Birthe's early years were steeped in the rich culture of Latin America. Growing up on the family farm instilled in her a deep appreciation for nature, manifested in her love for animals, horseback riding, and the vibrant Latin way of life.
Her journey led her to the United States, where she met the love of her life, Don Hoover, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Together, they embarked on a 47-year journey of love and companionship, traversing continents and creating cherished memories with their children.
Birthe's adventurous spirit found expression in her passion for travel, fluent in Danish and Spanish, she explored the wonders of San Diego, Mexico, and Europe. An annual tradition in Santa Fe, New Mexico, shared with her daughter Karen and granddaughter Aubrey, symbolized the bonds of family and the passing of traditions through generations.
An artist at heart, Birthe found joy and creativity in knitting and designing custom turquoise jewelry, leaving behind pieces of her vibrant spirit for all to treasure. Yet, her greatest masterpiece was her generosity and thoughtfulness towards others.
In her later years, Birthe found solace and joy in the company of her family. The cherished memories of summers spent on San Diego beaches, basking in the beauty of sunset with loved ones, remain etched in the hearts of her family.
Birthe's legacy lives on through her surviving family: her son Bill (Susan) Hunter, Paige (Hayden), Hayden (Maddie), Tom (MJ) Parker, Karen (Cliff) Anderson, granddaughter Aubrey (Brandon) Day, great-grandchildren Eleanormand Tucker. A private family celebration will honor Birthe's life. In lieu of flowers, contributions to a GoFundMe established in her grandson Hunter Hoover's name, to support his upcoming kidney transplant, are deeply appreciated. www.gofundme.com/f/help-hunter-defeat-kidney-failure
May Birthe's memory be a source of comfort and inspiration to all who knew her, and may her spirit continue to shine bright in the hearts of those she loved.
