Blanche Louise Sedlak, age 86, said goodbye to her family and made a grand entrance into heaven on December 15, 2018. A third generation Coloradan, she was born on September 1, 1932 in Calhan, Colorado. One of eight children, she was a lover of the arts, played the violin, was an athlete, a thespian, a tomboy, a good mechanic and an amazing gardener. She enjoyed crocheting, for awhile. She was most certainly before her time, an organic gardner, who could grow anything, and made every meal from scratch. She loved big hairdos, the Kennedys, Liz Taylor, the Broncos and the Rockies (in that order). She will be remembered for being one of the city’s greatest shoppers. Her picture appeared in the Gazette while shopping for antiques at the Goodwill (her favorite pastime). Blanche was a generous, lively host, with a passion for cooking and throwing parties of every kind. She was musical, funny, fun, always well dressed and creative - and loved singing and dancing. She married her childhood sweetheart, Alex on June 7, 1951 and the two had five children, Karen, Jane (Ron), Ray (Sue), Cindy (Peter) and John (Julie). Blanche had eighteen brilliant grandchildren and four great grandchildren. A Rosary will be held on Thursday, December 20 at 6:00 PM at St. Mary's Orthodox Church in Calhan, Colorado. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 21 at 10:00 AM at St. Marys Orthodox Church.
