

Bruce Burk Reeder (79) passed away on June 4, 2012 due to complications from a stroke. Bruce was born on Sept 30, 1932 in Swink, CO. where he spent his childhood. He attended Colorado State University and worked summers as a brakeman on the Sante Fe Railroad until he was called to serve in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. While stationed in Minneapolis, Bruce met Hazel Hartung, and fell in love. They were married on December 28, 1957 in Welcome, Minnesota. Together they raised four children Paul (Lyn), James (Malinda), David (Karen), and Carol. They have four grandchildren Zachary, Allyson, Scott and John.
Bruce, a Professional Engineer, earned a B.S.E.E. from CSU, and an M.S.E.E. from the University of Denver. Early in his career he helped develop the guidance system for the Minuteman Missile, and served in various engineering roles in California and Colorado. In 1967, he accepted a position at Traffic Data Systems and the family moved to Colorado Springs. In 1982, Bruce founded Skyline Electronics, Inc. and served as President & CEO until his retirement in 1999. Bruce’s pastimes included gardening, reading, genealogy, studying history, and enjoying time with his family.
Bruce was a remarkable man. He served God and his country, loved his wife and his family. He worked hard, honored his commitments, and was a friend to all who knew him.
Visitation will take place from 5:00pm – 7:00pm, Thursday, June 7th at First Congregational Church, 20 East St. Vrain in Colorado Springs.
Memorial services will take place at 11:00am on Friday, June 8th at First Presbyterian Church, 219 E. Bijou, in Colorado Springs.
