Born on November 19, 2016, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Caelan brought so much joy and light into our lives from the very beginning. Nine years was far too short a time to have him with us, but the love he gave and the memories he created will stay with us forever.
Caelan loved playing baseball, soccer, and basketball. He had a special love for his favorite toys, including his Mosasaurus, monster trucks, mini Cars, and Spider-Man. He had a bright, contagious laugh and a way of making ordinary moments feel special. Some of his happiest times were spent with his little sister, Everly Rae, whether they were having dance parties in the living room or heading off to the park together. Those little moments, filled with laughter and love, are the memories his family will hold close to their hearts.
Caelan was deeply loved by his family and all those fortunate enough to know him. He is survived by his mother, Gabriela Schmidt; stepfather, Ryan Schmidt; little sister, Everly Rae; brother, Everett Brooks; grandfather, Edward Palacios; grandmother, Sharon Torres-Palacios; and uncle, Adrian Palacios. He was also blessed with the love of his great-grandparents, Luis and Billie Torres and Dominga Palacios, as well as numerous cousins who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his great-grandfather, Hector Palacios, and his uncle, Luis Torres.
Though Caelan’s life was far too short, he will forever be a part of the hearts and lives of those who love him. He will be remembered in the laughter he shared, the memories he left behind, and the love that will never fade.
A service to celebrate Caelan’s life will be held on November 6, 2026 at 3:00PM at Swan-Law Funeral Directors, 501 North Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs, CO 80903. All who loved Caelan and wish to honor his memory are welcome to attend.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Caelan’s honor to CASA of the Pikes Peak Region.
“A little soul, made ready to flee, I loved him, guessed him, rather than knew him; and yet, my heart turns to dust and dew to him.”
