Carl “Channa” Eugene Aldaz, December 31, 1960 – January 24, 2011

A lifelong resident of the Westside of Colorado Springs, Carl Aldaz, 50, entered into eternal rest in the presence of his lord on January 24, 2011 with his family and friends at his side.

He was born in Monte Vista, CO to Alfred F. and Amelia C. Aldaz who survive. He grew up in Colorado Springs and graduated from Coronado High School. Carl grew up one of eight siblings and is preceded in death by his brother Dennis and sister Edith and is survived by Carla his twin, Nadine, Leonard, Frieda, and Jeanine. More than anything else, Carl loved the children in his life and will be missed by his three children Sabrina Grimaldo of Colorado Springs, Chris Martinez of Seattle, WA, and Alex Martinez of San Antonio, TX, four grandchildren, Mariah, Frankie, JoJo, Emma, and numerous nephews and nieces.

Carl was a strong, caring man of faith that enjoyed life to the fullest. He could always be counted on to brighten a darkened day, help those in need, and to crack a joke that would keep his friends laughing until they cried. Some of his favorite things were his ’68 Chevelle, the Denver broncos, the Colorado Buffs, supporting his nephews and nieces in sports, and living every moment that he was given.

My dearest sister, Alfred, and children. This message, I pray, will be accepted in lateness and possibly, not well written. I am sorry I was not there for you at the time of Carl's memorial services or afterwards to be with all of our loved ones. My hospitalization, etc.., not only kept me from coming to you but it also has kept me from grieving with each of you. In the last two days I have been crying like crazy - just thinking of the times we spent together last April. Carl was so gracious in getting my phone at the house after he had already taken me to the airport. He never complainted - he was just tickled that he could help me. What a guy. I can still hear him say, "No problem, Aunt. It is okay." I will come to you soon, God willing, so we can visit without interruptiions. God is in control - I have learned this more succinctly in the last month.

I love the following song. I cry every time we sing it at church. I think each of you will appreciate it because we are God's family.

"We're part of the family that's been born again. Part of the family whose love knows no end; For Jesus has saved us and made us His own. Now we're part of the family that's on it's way home.
When a brother meets sorrow we all feel his grief; when he's passed thru the valley
we all feel relief; Together in sunshine, together in the rain. together in victory thru His precious name.

And though wome go before us, we'll all meet again; Just in side the city as we enter in; There'll be no more parting with Jesus we'll be, Together forever, God's family.

Chorous: And sometimes we laugh together, sometimes we cry; sometimes we share together, heartaches and sighes; Sometimes we dream together of how it will be when we all get to Heaven - God's family."

Joe and I love you all very much; our hearts grieve for you. Carl is at rest and we will all pass through those gates too. Thank you for taking time out to pray for us during your great valley. I know that those prayers were part of God's answer to pull me through my little valley.
