Carol Sue McCray, beloved wife and mother passed away peacefully on August 20.2021, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was born in Hastings, Nebraska on November 9, 1945, the second of two children born to the late John and Lucy Ralls. Carol Sue was also raised with her half-sister Norma Lee (Ralls) Walker.
Carol Sue graduated from Sargent High School in 1964. Carol Sue then attended Kearney State College where she earned her associates degree. After graduation, she took her civil service test where she began her long and successful 40+ year career with the government. She worked her way up to be a Construction Manager with the US Army Corps of Engineers and eventually with Headquarters Air Force Space Command.
Family and friends were extremely important in her life. She enjoyed traveling with her husband to see and experience new places. She also enjoyed bowling, shooting, genealogy, hunting, fishing, and the great outdoors.
Carol Sue leaves behind to cherish her memory, devoted husband, Jerry W. McCray and her loving son Gary J. McCray and his wife Colleen M. McCray of Mesa, Arizona.
Visitation and service are scheduled for August 26, 2021 from 4:00 to 6:00, at Swan-Law Funeral Directors, 501 North Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs. A celebration of life will be held at Nancy Hoover’s residence, 4802 Harvest Road, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80917. Carol Sue will be laid to rest in her beloved Sandhill’s on the family plot at Taylor Cemetery in Burwell Nebraska on Monday August 30, 2021.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to The Wounded Warrior Project in her honor.
