Carolyn Callen went to be home with Jesus on Sunday, October 11, 2026, following a brief but courageous battle with cancer. In her final sacred moments on this earth, she was enveloped in the deep comfort of her family, who surrounded her bedside singing hymns, reading scripture, and sharing memories of a life beautifully lived.
Carolyn walked through this world with an unwavering faith in God, loved with a heart overflowing with grace, and gave of herself selflessly, never asking for anything in return. Her gentle spirit was a quiet gift to everyone she met, her kindness a constant blessing, and her love a magnificent reflection of God’s own heart. She carried a joyous gratitude into each day, always quick to offer a fervent "Amen!" to acknowledge even the smallest of life's blessings.
Born on March 19, 1946, to Peggy Jean (Tucker) and John W. Endley Jr., Carolyn spent her childhood years on a cattle farm in the small town of Weaubleau in Hickory County, Missouri. Her formative years were vibrant and active; she participated passionately in vocal music, band, sports, and 4-H. It was at Weaubleau Baptist Church that Carolyn first accepted Jesus as the Lord and leader of her life—a commitment that would anchor her entire journey. She pursued her love of music at Central Missouri State College in Warrensburg, Missouri, where she earned a Bachelor of Music Education.
It was within the halls of the college music department that she met William (Bill) Callen. The two were united in marriage on November 25, 1966. When Bill’s military service relocated them to the majestic landscapes of Colorado, they fell in love with the region and chose to make it their permanent home. In December 1973, their lives were doubly blessed with the birth of their twin daughters, Karen and Kendra, marking the beautiful beginning of their parenting adventure.
Carolyn was a woman of diverse talents. She initially used her detail oriented mind as an accountant for various small businesses, but her true calling blossomed when she stepped into the classroom. She began a fulfilling teaching career in elementary music, later transitioning to a remedial reading teacher helping students who struggled with reading, where she unlocked the joy of learning and reading for countless children.
As a wife and mother, Carolyn was the heartbeat of her home, selflessly supporting Bill and her daughters in their countless school, church, and personal pursuits. Together, Carolyn and Bill served the Lord as worship and music ministers across numerous churches in Colorado Springs. Carolyn brought joy to generations of children by leading children's church and directing vibrant youth musicals. She also lent her beautiful voice to the community choral group, Victory Voices, and was a proud, long-standing member of the Colorado Music Education Association (CMEA).
Beyond her ministry, Carolyn found God's handiwork in the world around her. She and Bill shared a deep love for the mountains, nature, and exploration, traveling to all 50 U.S. States together. At home, she spent countless hours in prayer and Bible study, and in the warmer weather she worked tirelessly, pouring her love into her magnificent flower gardens. Carolyn was a woman of fierce loyalty, profound kindness, and unmatched devotion. She was a legendary prayer warrior; when Carolyn promised to pray for you, she did so with absolute faithfulness. Her family takes great comfort in knowing that those prayers do not end here, but continue before the throne of heaven.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her beloved parents, John and Peggy Endley, and her loving husband William (Bill) M. Callen.
Her legacy of love and faith lives on through her surviving family: her loving sister Joylyn (Endley) Dunafon, sister-in-law Zoe Ann (Callen) Tapscott, her devoted daughters, Karen Callen and Kendra (Callen) Ramirez, along with her son-in-law, Jonathan Ramirez. She also leaves behind a vast, chosen family of many "adopted" daughters and grandchildren who looked to her as a maternal guiding light. She was cherished beyond measure by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Though our earthly hearts ache intensely for just one more moment, one more smile, and one more warm embrace, we find profound peace in knowing that Carolyn is finally home in her heavenly glory. She has at last heard the words her faithful heart lived a lifetime to hear: “Well done, good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:21
Forever missed, endlessly loved, and now resting peacefully in the eternal arms of Jesus—the One she loved most of all.
