Carolyn Marie Frick

Carolyn was born in Southern California to Michael and Julia Fields. She grew up in Pasadena and attended Alverno Catholic High School where she made lifelong friends. As the oldest of four siblings, Carolyn had a natural inclination to care for others, while also bringing a mischievous, spirited sense of fun to those around her.

At the age of 19, Carolyn joined the United States Air Force, where she was excited to start a life of adventure while serving her country. During her time in the military, she earned a degree in Fire Science, laying the foundation for a lifelong career dedicated to helping others.

As a firefighter in the Air Force, she was able to experience life in Texas, Alaska, and Florida. In 1985, Carolyn was stationed at the United States Air Force Academy, as one of the first female Air Force firefighters. After 8 years of active duty, she was accepted into the Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD). She continued her military career for 14 years in the reserves until she retired as a Master Sergeant in 2002.

Carolyn thrived as a firefighter serving the Colorado Springs community. In 2001, she became a paramedic, a pivotal moment in her career as it aligned her passions for medicine and caring for others. Carolyn was known for her intelligence, compassion, and unwavering dedication to her patients. She also developed a reputation for her light-hearted antics and sense of humor. Carolyn retired from CSFD in 2014 after 21 incredible years.

The fire department was more than a career to Carolyn, it was her second family. When she unexpectedly became a single parent in 1998, her CSFD family rallied around her and her daughters, ensuring they were surrounded by love, support, and community.

Carolyn’s greatest pride was her three daughters, who were the center of her world. Whether it was rambunctious game nights, tea parties, road trips, or week-long camping trips, Carolyn made sure her girls had a full and happy childhood. She was a dedicated and devoted mother who raised 3 strong and successful women.

Carolyn will be remembered for her kind, empathetic and playful spirit. She truly never knew a stranger and had a gift for making everyone feel welcomed and valued from the moment they met her. She loved traveling with friends, baking with her grandkids, and dancing in her kitchen, but above all, she loved serving others. Her selfless heart and generosity were at the center of how she loved all those around her.

She is survived by her three daughters: Amanda Lazar; Emily Ricketts (Richard); and Molly Scott (Steve). She was a proud and loving grandmother to Blake and Austin Lazar, Grace, Luke, and Jake Ricketts, and Tucker, Tatum, and Tenley Scott. She is also survived by her father, Michael Fields (Lorelei); brother, Chris Fields (Yvette); sister, Cim Devenyns (Ken); several nieces and nephews, along with many extended family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Julia Fields; her brother, Cameron Fields; the father of her daughters, Gene Frick; and Carole Fernandez, who was like a second mother to Carolyn.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00AM on Monday, May 18, 2026 at New Life Church, 11025 Voyager Pkwy, Colorado Springs, CO 80921. Please join the family for a Reception following the service.

Carolyn’s legacy lives on through her daughters and the many lives that she touched. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
