Cathy was born on April 4, 1946 to Frank and Helen Poshak in Butte, Montana. Although she was an only child her cousin Marie Sanderson was like a sister to her growing up. They spent countless hours together and shared many stories of their adventures.
She graduated from Butte High in 1964 and then went on to attend St. Patrick’s school of nursing in Missoula. Although she never fulfilled her dream of becoming a registered nurse, she spent her life as a caretaker. Cathy worked in several different nursing homes in Butte as a CNA and then transitioned to Director of Activities. This was the perfect job for her as she could spend her days doing the things she loved.
On December 4, 1966 she married Rusty Whetstone. They made their home in Butte with their three daughters whom she cherished. After the death of her beloved husband in 2001 she moved to Colorado to be with her daughters and grandchildren. There she opened an at home daycare where not only cared for her grandchildren but countless numbers of other little people who knew her as their “nana”. She had a unique ability of loving and caring for children.
Cathy’s enjoyed bowling, bingo, arts and crafts, and trips to the casino. However the most important thing in her life was her family.
Cathy is survived by her daughter Robbi Keith, Bonnie (Mike) Brown, Kathy Kichnet. Grandchildren Ryan Keith, Darren, Joshua, and Madison Brown, Christopher (Kellee) Kichnet, Kevin Kichnet, and all of her “adopted” children and grandchildren whom she dearly loved. Cathy was preceeded in death by her parents, her husband, and son-in-law Patrick Keith.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of her life will be held on Saturday January 7, 2022 at 11:00 am at Chapel of Memories, 829 S. Hancock, Colorado Springs, Colorado. The family will also have a memorial service and interment of her ashes in Butte, Montana in July.
