OBITUARY

Charles Anderson

April 26, 1938June 2, 2010

Charles Monroe Anderson, April 26, 1938-June 2, 2010 Resident of Colorado Springs, Colorado. After a courageous six weeks of fighting for his life due to a heart attack and quintuple bypass surgery, Charlie passed way at the University of Colorado hospital in Aurora, Co. Charlie was born in Columbia, South Carolina and raised in Easley, South Carolina where he graduated high school.

He was one of four children born to the late George Washington (GW) and Martha Elizabeth Anderson and was the beloved husband of Maryse Anderson for 28 years and father to one daughter, Ashley. Charlie will forever be remembered by his brother Jim, sister Priscilla, late brother, Lewis, beloved wife and child, and caring in-laws, along with the countless other friends and family whom were blessed to know him.

Charlie was a veteran of the United States Navy and retired from Lockheed Martin where he was a Human Resources Manager. He loved watching his sports, reading, listening to good ole’ music, laughing, being with his family and having fun with numerous friends. Charlie touched the lives of many people with his smile and generosity and maintained his trademark sense of humor all the way to the end.

Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service on Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at 11:00 am at Swan Law Funeral Directors on 501 North Cascade Avenue Colorado Springs, CO 80903.

Dear Maryse and Ashley, I'm sorry to hear of Charlies passing. Those days we shared in Guam are memorable and wont be forgot. I'd hope to meet with you sometime in the future. The thing I remember most was the terrific marriage you two had.

It was with much sadness that I found that Charlie has passed on. Our prayers, my wife Kay and mine, go out to your family.

Charlie and I were the best of buddies on San Salvador, Bahamas Islands, in 1960-1961. Charlie even visited my parents in Cocoa, FL when he was in town. I went to Ascension in 1961 and we lost touch and his last visit with my family occurred while I was there. After returning to the States in 1963, I always looked for Charlie at every chance I had, but could not find him. My Mother passed away in October of 2009 but she asked about Charlie in her last days. My wife had heard about Charlie and looked forward to meeting him when he could be found. I just found an Email address for Charlie and that he was in Colorado Springs in last part of July. This information was on the Eastern Test Range "Range Rats" web site. I immediately started trying to find him. I Emailed and called a telephone number that I had found through an online search, but received no response. Then, I thought to search obituaries in Colorado and finding this really took me by surprise.

It is ironic that Charlie wound up in Colorado Springs as we moved to Denver in 1972 and moved to Montana in 1978. With my home office in Denver, I made frequent trips there until my retirement in 2002. We did pass through Denver each year for the next three. If we had only known. I truly regret that my searches were unsuccessful these many years. My memories of Charlie and all good ones

Dear Maryse and Ashley,
I am very sorry I could not be with you for Charlie's Memorial. I am glad Myrtile could make it to represent our family at this sad occasion.
I will certainly miss my good buddy Charlie with his unique character and fun spirit. He was always a friend to all. I'll miss sharing a "Buckweiser" as we used to call it, with him. I have wonderful memories we shared together in Seychelles and the U.S. A good ole boy from Carolina will be missed. Goodbye Charlie until we meet again.
Maryse and Ashley...our prayers and thoughts are with you during this difficult time. We love you and are here for you if you should need anything.
Love,
Jim, Myrtile, and Zara
