Ray went on his final journey to meet his Creator surrounded by his family. Ray was born and raised in Pueblo, Colorado and was preceded in death by his daughter Jerri Lou Craig, and his parents Charles E. and Gladys (Turner) Craig. He is survived by wife Virginia (Johnson) Craig; his daughter, Jeane (Craig) Turner, husband Steve and grandsons Stephen Charles, Samuel Earle and Jared Craig of Colorado Springs; his son, Charles Kirk Craig, wife Angelique and grandchildren Savanah Grace, Sylvie Elise and Rowan Charles Jean-Claude of Cave Creek, AZ; brother Donald Craig and wife, Nancy of Tucson AZ, sister Ann (Craig) Lock and husband Chuck of Salt Lake City, UT, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
His greatest joy in life was his family and the outdoors. Ray loved hunting and fishing with his wife, children, grandchildren and friends. His hunting expeditions covered many states, including Alaska, and encompassed nearly all North American animals - even a Safari to South Africa. He was an artistic man whose talent is showcased in his taxidermy, illustrations, and Native American creations. He was a proponent of 4-H and other youth character building programs.
Ray and his wife, Virginia, raised their three children in Black Forest, CO and moved to Newcastle, WY in 1996. Ray was a Master Plumber and co-owner of Imperial Plumbing and Heating in Colorado Springs for decades. While in Wyoming, Ray established a thriving taxidermy business, Rimrock Taxidermy. He and his wife recently returned to Pueblo, CO to be closer to family during his battle with emphysema.
Ray was a caring man whose legacy will be remembered by all who knew and loved him. His family would like to honor his love for hunting and in lieu of flowers, suggest a memorial donation to “Hunt of A Lifetime Foundation Inc.” Checks may be directed to the family or made online by credit card at www.huntofalifetime.org. Hunt of a Lifetime is a nonprofit charity that arranges and pays for dream hunting and fishing trips for children with life threatening illness.
Funeral Services, handled by Swan Law Funeral Directors, will be held Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015, 10:00am at Black Forest Baptist Church, 10915 Black Forest Rd. Internment follows at Eastonville Cemetery in Black Forest, CO.
