Charles D. Day passed away April 1, 2011 in Colorado Springs, at home surrounded by his loving family. Charles was born on June 5, 1932 to Mabel Virginia Jones and Charles Melvin Day in Parkersburg, West Virginia. Charles married the love of his life Barbara Lee Haines on November 22, 1952 in Parkersburg, West Virginia.
Affectionately known as “Charlie” by his friends, he enjoyed the Rocky Mountains, fishing, smoking and drinking his beer, his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. “Charlie” proudly served his country in the U. S. Army for 23 years.
Charles was preceded in death by his mother and father, sister Martha Yancy and his wife, Barbara.
Charles is survived by his daughters, Ellen Keller, Kathryn Saqib, Cheryl Leal, Linda Boyd, son David Day, brother Joseph Day, 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
“Charlie” will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved him.
Services will be April 8, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Memorial Gardens Cemetery and Funeral Home Chapel, 3825 Airport Rd., Colorado Springs, Colorado. Inurnment will follow.
