Chuck "Bud" Ormsby beloved father and grandfather passed away at his home surrounded by his daughters, at the age of 89. He was born at Beth-El hospital in Colorado Springs, attended schools here, and graduated in 1946 from Colorado Springs High School. He also is an alumni of Colorado College of which he attended.
Chuck served in the US Naval Reserves in 1947 and received an Honorable Discharge after serving 5 years. In school he lettered in both track and swimming. He was an artist, a climbing instructor, and a boxer and won 2 Colorado championship medals.
Chuck retired as co-owner of C.F. Long Painting and Decorating being the last of the Union Painting contractors here in Colorado Springs.
Chuck is preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Janelle Hanke Ormsby. He is survived by his sister, Irene Mickelson and seven daughters, Lezlee Gillaspie, Denise (Steve) Schrock, Karrie (Marcus) Meyer, Stephanie (Bob) Fleming, Julie (Rob) Glownia, Nancy (John) Hudec and Valarie Ormsby, also 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
Chuck and Janelle enjoyed life to the fullest! They belonged to Ports of Travel Club - traveling the world from Seoul, Korea to Brazil! They built their "cabin" in Twin Lakes, CO and used it for their famous "snowmobiling" parties, sailing, hunting and fishing! Dad returned to his cabin this past summer for one last visit of the mountains he grew up in!!

Visitation will take place Tuesday October 24th, 2017 from 3:30 - 7:30 pm and Funeral Services on Wednesday October 25, 2017 10:00 am at Swan-Law Funeral Directors 501 N. Cascade Ave. with a reception to follow services. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery.
