Learning was Cheryl’s passion. She graduated from Fredonia High School in 1983 and continued her education at Washburn University and UCCS, receiving a Bachelors Degree in English. She continuously educated herself on anything and everything she could, working in advertising, teaching, accounting, and finally human resources.
Having spent two years in Saudi Arabia as a young girl, her love of foreign countries and travel flourished. She traveled all over the world to places including Thailand, Holland, Switzerland and many others. It was her dream to make it to Paris and Italy, and to someday see Europe again.
As an amazing artist, Cheryl transformed the world around her into the beautiful, sunny, and colorful place she dreamt it to be. She captivated audiences with her stage performances. With her paintings, she transported people to new places. She mesmerized us with her beautiful piano melodies, and she painted pictures in our minds with mere words on a page.
She leaves behind to love and remember her, loving husband – Rick Provence, children -Matthew and Marissa Provence, parents – Don and Delight Nelms, sister – Laurie Pfaff, and grandmother –Althea Nelms, as well as a wonderful community of family members and friends.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 10 am at Swan Law Funeral Directors, 501 N. Cascade Ave, Colorado Springs, CO.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald House Charities at donate.rmhc.org.
