Clarence was born to Mark and Thelma Kirk on January 14, 1955, in Nebraska. From a young age, he loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman his entire life. Much of his free time was spent in the Colorado Rocky Mountains at Eleven Mile Reservoir fishing for trout; on Thirtynine Mile Mountain elk hunting; or on the eastern plains of Colorado deer, antelope, and coyote hunting.
Clarence enlisted in the Army in 1972 and served six years as a telecommunications specialist. Following his honorable discharge from the Army, he was the Plant Superintendent for 25.5 years of his 29.5-year career with El Paso County Telephone Company. He took great pride in working hard to provide for his family and being of service to his local community.
To know Clarence for a single minute, or an entire lifetime, was to know a true friend. He was the first to stop on the side of the road to help a friend (or stranger) with vehicle troubles, and he was always quick to help a local community member repair a fence, complete home upkeep, or assist with livestock. If you were fortunate enough to share in his outdoor or home-improvement adventures, you likely also experienced at least one of his many misadventures. From innumerable blown-out tires and vehicle sagas in the wilderness, to several snowed-in and blizzard tales, to being stranded on a lake during a tornado, to many “trips” down the sides of hills, mountains, and cliffs, Clarence’s life had many, many, *many* stories to tell.
He is survived by his wife, Rebecca “Becky” Kirk; his sisters, Louise (Thomas) Grant, Judith (Leroy) Scheulen; his children Don (Dani) Kirk, Iris (Carl) KirkPilger, Becca Kirk, and Isabel (Mason) Cullen; and his loving grandchildren AnnaBelle, KayLyn, Clara, MaeLeigh, GabriElla, Cadence, Chance, Sylinse, Baron, Rydon, BraeLynn, and soon-to-arrive Sloane.
He is preceded in death by his parents, as well as his siblings Wendell, David, William, Joseph, Thomas, James, Samuel, Sharon (James) Pohlmann, and Diana (John) Eising.
